Dear DACA and Undocumented Community and Allies,

We write today on behalf of everyone in Student Affairs to join you in welcoming news of the Biden presidential memorandum on preserving and fortifying DACA. We are hopeful that this and subsequent action on the federal level will allow students to focus on their individual and intellectual growth, while we acknowledge this memorandum is a stepping stone on the path towards even greater support and access for DACAmented and undocumented students.

As a reminder, we established a working group last fall to address ongoing concerns for the DACAmented and undocumented community, with both staff and students establishing goals and providing feedback. Should you want to learn more about this group, please contact Assistant Dean of Student Support Ankita Rakhe at arakhe@stanford.edu.

As always, if you seek advice about legal or financial matters, please email fordreamers@stanford.edu. Stanford has also collected resources on this website. It is especially important during the pandemic and in this virtual environment to prioritize your mental health. Please be sure to reach out to Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS), your Residence Dean (RD) for undergraduates or a Graduate Life Office (GLO) Dean for graduate students so we can connect you with tools to manage your health and well-being.

Finally, please be assured that we will continue to track any changes or updates to immigration law in coordination with Stanford’s Office of Government Affairs. As we learn more about these developments and how they could affect you and your education at Stanford, we will be sure to place a high priority on communicating with you.

Best,
Mona Hicks, Senior Associate Vice Provost and Dean of Students (she/her)
Elvira Prieto, Director and Associate Dean, El Centro Chicano y Latino (she/her)
Margaret Sena, Associate Director and Assistant Dean, El Centro Chicano y Latino (she/her)
Ankita Rakhe, Assistant Dean of Student Support (she/her)
